To whom it may concern:

For the past year, we’ve been planning with the venue to use our own network infrastructure. We’ve spent months working towards this, and purchased over $10,000 of equipment to provide a better internet than the conference center was able to provide. They were aware of this plan and cooperative until last week when they tried to impose an unreasonable fee for demarcation access.

Victor tried in good faith to negotiate, but was unable to make progress. Instead of having the conference take on substantial debt, we decided to move the conference at the last minute.

We’re very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. The OpenWest Conference is a community conference and not built for profit, so taking on that debt would have harmed the community in the long term.
